Our client is a leading insurance group with a fast‑growing High‑Net‑Worth (HNW) and Ultra‑High‑Net‑Worth (UHNW) business across Asia. Leveraging a strong brand, sophisticated product suite and an extensive distribution network, the firm serves HNW/ UHNW clients through bespoke life and investment‑linked insurance solutions. To support its continued expansion, the group is looking to appoint a high‑calibre HNW Senior Compliance Manager in Hong Kong.

As the Senior Compliance Manager overing High Net Worth sector in a Leading Insurer, your key responsibility will be:
  • Act as a subject‑matter expert on AML / CTF, sanctions and broader financial crime risks for the HNW / UHNW insurance segment, providing practical guidance to front line, distribution partners and senior management.
  • Lead and perform enhanced due diligence (EDD) on complex HNW cases, including detailed source‑of‑wealth and source‑of‑funds reviews, PEP and sanctions screening, and adverse‑media checks, particularly where offshore structures, trusts or cross‑border elements are involved.
  • Review and challenge large‑value life and investment‑linked insurance applications, top‑ups, early surrenders, policy loans and assignments to identify unusual patterns or red flags, escalating cases and filing STRs/SARs where appropriate.
  • Conduct name screening and activity monitoring alerts and enhance the effectiveness of AML and sanctions controls through analytical insights or process automation.
  • Design, implement and maintain AML / CTF, sanctions and anti‑bribery & corruption (ABC) policies, procedures and controls tailored to the HNW insurance business, ensuring alignment with local regulatory expectations and group standards.
  • Drive periodic thematic reviews and ongoing monitoring of HNW portfolios, including calibration of customer and product risk ratings, transaction monitoring rules and triggers.
  • Partner closely with distribution, private banking partners, brokers and internal stakeholders to embed a strong financial crime compliance culture, deliver targeted training and proactively address control gaps identified through audits or regulatory reviews.
  • Support regulatory inspections, internal audits and remediation projects related to HNW AML / financial crime, preparing documentation and responding to queries in a timely and robust manner.
requirements.
    • Degree holder in Law, Finance, Risk, Accounting or a related discipline; professional AML / compliance qualifications (e.g. CAMS, ICA) an advantage.
    • Minimum 7–10 years’ AML / financial crime compliance experience, with solid exposure to life insurance and/or HNW / private banking clients; candidates from private banking/ trustee AML looking to move into insurance will also be considered.
    • Strong technical knowledge of AML / CTF, sanctions and KYC / EDD requirements in Hong Kong (and preferably other key Asian markets), including practical experience applying regulatory guidelines to complex HNW structures.
    • Proven track record handling complex investigations, preparing STRs/SARs and engaging with regulators or law‑enforcement authorities.
    • Excellent stakeholder‑management skills, with the confidence to challenge and influence senior business leaders and front‑line colleagues in a pragmatic, solution‑oriented way.
    • High level of integrity, strong attention to detail, and the ability to operate independently in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment.
    • Fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is essential.
