Senior Manager - Data Science (Insurance)

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Manager - Data Science to join the AI & Analytics team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about applying advanced machine learning techniques and large language models (LLMs) to solve real-world business challenges.

Responsibilities:   

• Provide strategic leadership to a high-performing team of data science analysts, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and results-oriented execution.
• Lead the deployment of advanced machine learning models, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI applications such as document understanding, summarization, and retrieval-augmented generation, with a proven track record of successful implementation.
• Design and optimize deep learning models and statistical algorithms to support enterprise AI initiatives.
• Contribute to the development of LLM-powered solutions, including intelligent bots and document intelligence systems.
• Enhance and maintain the Datamart to ensure data integrity, accessibility, and scalability across business functions.
• Monitor and improve the performance of production models to ensure reliability, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Develop and implement business intelligence dashboards and reports using Power BI to deliver actionable insights for management and operational teams.
• Translate complex data into clear, strategic insights with a customer-centric approach to support business decision-making.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed data science capabilities into core business processes and strategic initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong data partnerships by applying deep business acumen, translating analytics into actionable strategies, and managing stakeholder relationships with maturity and influence.
• Drive organizational transformation through knowledge sharing and team upskilling in AI/ML methodologies, cloud engineering, and emerging technologies.
• Promote best practices in AI, cloud data engineering, and analytics to ensure timely, high-quality delivery and operational excellence.
• Continuously identify and pursue opportunities for data-driven automation and AI innovation to generate sustainable business value.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, AI Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Over 6 years of experience in data science, AI, or machine learning, including a minimum of 3 years in a senior leadership or managerial role.
• Demonstrated success in delivering strategic AI use cases aligned with business operations, supported by a strong portfolio of LLM and Generative AI deployments.
• Deep hands-on expertise in Azure Cloud, Databricks, data pipeline architecture, and cloud-based data engineering.
• Experience in Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) design and implementation.
• Understanding of the full model development lifecycle, including data cleansing, feature engineering, training, and validation. Prior exposure to the insurance industry is an asset.
• Strong communication skills in English and Cantonese/Mandarin.
