About the Client
One of the European most recognizable insurance businesses is looking to secure a new Head of IT in HK. The role will play a key role in technology roadmap design and delivery as this multinational organization goes through a period of heavy technology transformation and change.

About the role

Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible IT strategy and has overall ownership for IT delivery, support and operational services to meet business needs.

IT Strategy & Planning

  • Develop & maintain IT strategy, ensure business alignment
  • Build strong relationships with business and service stakeholders; represents Technology in business discussions and ensures technology capabilities required by business are available & fit-for-purpose
  • Work with business to drives 0technology investment planning and come up with ideas to maximize returns on technology investment for the organization
  • Own budget setting, forecasting and IT P&L actuals
  • In collaboration with APAC IT leadership, leadership team, define target technology architecture and set technology direction.
IT support & Service Delivery
  • Own technology service & support offered to business
  • Work with leadership team and respective HK/APAC/global IT teams to ensure the delivery of technology services & systems that meet the business objectives and IT strategy
  • Ensure adequate & competent IT resources (internal and external) to support the business demand
  • Accountable for the adoption of global governance processes and adherence to enterprise standards & policies
IT Team & Talent Management
  • Work with respective HK/APAC/Global IT functional leaders to define IT organization’s structure, roles, and responsibilities
  • Provide on-the-ground leadership to local IT teams and manage local service partners/vendors
  • Create culture of performance and value in local technology teams
  • Mentor, coach and develop local IT talents; Drive D&I agenda for local IT function
  • Collaborate and build strong working relationships with APAC Technology and Global Technology peers to ensure consistency of information, methodologies and reports; share best practices and systems knowledge
Skill and Requirements:
  • Minimum 8 - 12 years of experiences in IT leadership position and min. 5 years working in Insurance Industry
  • Proven track record in leading large-scale IT transformation in financial service industry, preferably Insurance companies
  • Strong technical leadership in application development & maintenance, production support services infrastructure management
  • Exceptional organizational skills to lead teams to navigate through ambiguity and change
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills and ability to engage a broad range of senior level stakeholders
  • Proven experience in managing geographically distributed teams in the areas of IT delivery, support and operations.
  • Proven experience in leading and operating within matrix organizational structure
  • Ability to attract, development and retain talents
  • Industry-recognized IT Service Management certifications (e.g. ITIL, etc.)
  • Industry-recognized Program / Project Delivery certifications (e.g. PMP, PRINCE 2, etc.)
  • Exposure to Enterprise or Solution architecture roles / planning activities within Insurance Market
  • Experience with AGILE and DevOps continuous delivery and support methodologies.
  • Experience with Digital platform development and application of related technologies to the entire Insurance value chain.
