We are seeking an experienced and innovative Lead Data Scientist to the Data scientist team as a Co-Section Head in a leading bank. The successful candidate will lead a team of eight data scientists focused on supporting the bank's data-driven business model in the wealth management, retail banking, and wholesale areas. The successful candidate will lead a team of eight data scientists focused on supporting the bank's data-driven business model in the wealth management, retail banking, and wholesale areas. The ideal candidate must possess technical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the banking industry.
Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of data scientists, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to drive excellence in data analytics and modeling across the organization
- Strategy and Roadmap: Collaborate with senior management and stakeholders to define the data analytics strategy and roadmap for the wealth management, retail banking, and wholesale areas, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives
- Data Analysis: Apply advanced statistical methods, machine learning techniques, and predictive modeling to analyze complex data sets, extract actionable insights, and support decision-making processes
- Model Development: Lead the development of predictive models, algorithms, and analytical solutions to optimize business performance, risk management, customer segmentation, and marketing campaigns
- Data Governance: Establish and maintain data governance frameworks, data standards, and best practices to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, marketing, risk management, and product development to identify opportunities for leveraging data and analytics to improve business processes and customer experience
- Stay Up-to-date: Stay abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and advancements in data science and analytics in order to drive innovation and continuous improvement in the team's capabilities
- Education: Master's or Ph.D. degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in data science, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Experience in the banking, wealth management, or financial services industry is preferred
- Technical Skills: Proficient in statistical analysis, data mining, predictive modeling, machine learning algorithms, and programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
- Experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms is a plus
- Leadership Abilities: Proven track record of successfully leading and managing data science teams, driving innovation, and delivering high-quality results. Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential
- Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of the banking industry, including wealth management, retail banking, and wholesale operations. Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the banking sector is highly desirable
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, with the ability to analyze complex data, identify patterns, and provide actionable insights to drive business strategies
- Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels
- Excellence verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills in both Chinese and English
