About the Role:
Our client is a leading international law firm, seeking an experienced Legal Proofreader/ Translator to join their team in Hong Kong.

This role is crucial in ensuring the quality, consistency, and accuracy of the firm's documents in both English and Chinese (Both Traditional and Simplified Chinese). This is a newly created headcount to cater for the firm’s expansion plan.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proofread and edit a variety of documents (e.g. legal agreements, reports, presentations) for proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency in English
  • Ensure all documents adhere to firm style guidelines and formatting standards, performing cross-reference and defined term checks for consistency
  • Use document comparison tools to review revisions and ensure all edits are accurately implemented
  • Provide bilingual document support, including reviewing translated texts for clarity and accuracy (Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese) when requested
  • Maintain a high level of quality control under tight deadlines, flagging any discrepancies in formatting or content
  • Assist in any ad hoc task when necessary
Key Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Translation, Communications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in similar roles, preferably within a law firm, financial institution, or professional services environment
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) and strong proficiency in Chinese (able to read and write Traditional & Simplified Chinese)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and knowledge of grammar, spelling, and style conventions in both languages
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and flexible approach to work
