Role Overview:

• Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will be leading a team of corporate and commercial lawyers as well as contracts specialists in the organization's Centres of Excellence. You will be responsible for the overall management and development of this team, handling a wide range of commercial, contracts, M&A, and partnership matters globally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the recruitment, training, and ongoing development of the legal team
• Handle commercial contracts, M&A, partnerships, and other strategic initiatives
• Address commercial contracts risk and implement measures to mitigate such risk
• Represent the organization in commercial negotiations with external parties
• Manage the engagement, work, and fees of external law firms
• Advise internal stakeholders on corporate structuring, product terms & conditions, and other commercial matters
• Seek efficient, automated methods to scale up contracts support for the company
• Manage corporate secretarial matters, including group company setup and dissolution
• Provide legal training to increase awareness of regulatory risk across the organization

Required Qualifications:

• Qualified lawyer with 12+ years of experience in commercial or corporate law
• Significant in-house experience, preferably from a reputable organization
• Prior experience at a top-tier law firm is highly valued
• Proven track record of leading teams and managing complex legal matters end-to-end
• Deep understanding of financial products (e.g. spot trading, derivatives) and commercial transactions
• Knowledge of legal operations efficiency methods and contracts management
• Familiarity with the crypto-regulatory environment and experience advising on product launches
• Ability to work independently, make tough decisions, and manage complex projects
• Excellent legal drafting, interpretation, and communication skills
• Fluency in English, with proficiency in Mandarin highly preferred
