About the Role
We’re looking for a senior-level Risk Control Algorithm Engineer to build and scale risk detection and prevention capabilities for a crypto trading business. You’ll design models and strategies to identify abnormal transactions, protect accounts and funds, and detect market abuse behaviors (e.g., insider trading-style patterns / “rat trading” signals) through large-scale data mining and advanced ML.
What You’ll Do
- Build risk detection models & strategies: Apply data analysis, machine learning, and deep learning to detect trading, account, and fund-security risks; turn insights into deployable risk control solutions.
- Own risk control system design: Develop key components such as:
- abnormal transaction sensing and alerting,
- time-series anomaly detection,
- user profiling / risk personas and feature platforms.
- Detect market abuse patterns: Partner with Risk Strategy, Data, and Engineering to mine behavior signals, identify attack/abuse patterns, and quickly iterate effective countermeasures.
- Operationalize algorithms: Drive end-to-end delivery from offline research to online deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement (precision/recall, latency, stability).
- Cross-functional leadership: Align stakeholders on risk trade-offs, explain model outputs clearly, and improve decisioning quality across the business.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields.
- Experience:
- 7+ years overall experience, with 5+ years in risk modeling / fraud detection / security algorithms (preferred).
- Strong background in data mining, machine learning, and/or data engineering in production environments.
- Engineering capability: Proficient in Python (or other scripting languages); able to implement, test, and ship algorithms in real systems.
- Applied AI mindset: Strong curiosity about AI and LLM applications; hands-on experience deploying LLMs for risk control is a plus.
- Strong problem solving: Structured thinking, solid logic, ability to break down ambiguous problems, and strong learning agility.
- Execution under pressure: High ownership, fast iteration, able to handle challenging targets and high-stakes incidents.
- Proven projects in one or more of the following:
- Account security (ATO, bot defense, identity risk),
- transaction & fund security (fraud, AML-like typologies, abnormal trading),
- user profiling for risk/finance/security use cases.
- Experience from top-tier crypto firms, or large-scale consumer finance / payment ecosystems such as:
- Ant Group / Alipay,
- Tencent (WeChat / QQ / Tenpay / WeChat Pay risk & security),
- ByteDance or other major platforms doing account security / anti-fraud.
- Leadership experience (mentoring, tech lead, or team management).
- Meaningful reduction in fraud loss / abnormal trading impact with measurable model performance.
- Robust online risk pipelines with clear monitoring, explainability, and rapid response capability.
- Faster detection and disruption of market abuse patterns through data-driven strategies.
