Job description

Our client is a well-know global brand, they are expanding their database team in HK and looking for a high calibre DBA to join them.  As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company's database systems across multiple cloud platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient database design, seamless data integration, and high availability of the cloud-based database systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in database administration, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of cloud-based database technologies, especially in AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

Responsibilities:
  • Design the database structure and work closely with developers for database development.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance and scalability of cloud-based databases to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement efficient database structures, schemas, and data models on cloud platforms.
  • Implement backup and recovery strategies to protect data and ensure business continuity in cloud environments.
  • Prepare documentation, including backup procedures, troubleshooting guides and repo
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in cloud environments, working closely with technical teams and cloud service providers as necessary.
  • Perform regular database maintenance tasks, such as data purging, index tuning, and database reorganization in cloud environments.
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to cloud-based database infrastructure, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends in cloud-based database management and make recommendations for their adoption.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Certifications in Database technologies will be an advantage.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on managing cloud-based databases using AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud-based database management systems, such as Azure SQL Database, and Google Cloud SQL.
  • Strong proficiency in database administration, including installation, configuration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security in cloud environments.
  • Experience with database design, data modeling, and schema management in cloud platforms.
  • Advanced SQL programming skills and expertise in writing complex queries and stored procedures.
  • Familiarity with cloud database monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and resolve database-related issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
